A departure from hand-based rendering systems
From photographs to laser etching, flame to video, and finally an interactive synthesizer — each transformation of the work communicates sensory realities of inhabiting a body with chronic illness.
Collages of artists who came before
Self-portraits from artists in the public domain were digitally hand cut into layers and recombined through a generative system. A long lineage of self-representation and art history torn apart and reassembled into new composites.
Browser instruments from natural systems
Interactive browser-based synthesizers based on natural systems — mycelial growth, neural meshes, live wind data, ripple physics. Each instrument is a small ecology of sound.
break, combine, scan, distort, combine
A broken glass sculpture scanned in 3D, manipulated as form, and projected back onto the original sculpture. The artifact and its data double held in superposition.
Lampwrecked is an artist based in New York. Faced with chronic illness and fading dexterity, their conceptual practice has expanded to experiments in many mediums. A background in psychology, art history, and neuroscience informs a practice rooted in sensory processing and biological experience.
